Lack of traffic lights causing severe congestion in Byblos
Description
Dear Jbeil Municipality, I would like to bring to your attention a recurring traffic issue in the area near the municipality. On the inner road descending from Blat toward the highway exit adjacent to the municipality, there is a busy intersection where a traffic light is clearly needed. The absence of proper signaling is causing significant congestion, as drivers are often uncertain about when to proceed, leading to confusion and delays. At times, a traffic officer is assigned to manage the intersection; however, this has unfortunately resulted in additional congestion rather than improvement, likely due to the complexity of the traffic flow at that point. Additionally, I would like to acknowledge and appreciate the improvements made to the road near the municipality, particularly the area leading toward the souks and the opposite side of the highway. However, lane discipline in this area remains a serious issue, as many drivers do not adhere to lane markings. This suggests that clearer lane structuring and enforcement measures are still needed. Given that traffic lights are relatively affordable and effective, installing one at the mentioned intersection would likely provide a straightforward and impactful solution. Furthermore, stricter enforcement of traffic rules—especially ensuring that drivers stop before the designated white line at traffic lights—would greatly improve overall traffic flow and safety. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope the municipality will consider taking the necessary steps to address these concerns.
